Obituary

Donald Dale Brower, 82, of Hamilton, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 17, 2017, at his home.

Don was born in Hamilton on July 17, 1934 to Harry and Helene (Etterbeek) Brower. After serving in the U.S. Navy, Don became a welder for General Motors. He worked in the Kalamazoo Fisher Body plant for 34 years before his retirement. On May 31, 1957 he married Gladys Klingenberg. Don and Gladys raised their family in Hamilton and were members of Hamilton Reformed Church. Don was an avid Red Wings fan, he enjoyed fishing, antiquing, golfing, and family camping when the kids were young. Don had extensive collections of Dickin's houses, and model trucks. After his retirement, he also helped working on his brothers-in-laws farms.

Don loved his family, spending time with Gladys, his children and his granddaughters but also serving them. He was a skilled woodworker, and made cradles, bird houses, special gifts, and projects for his granddaughters, family and extended family.

Don always went out for lunch with his brother Wayne every Monday night. He also never missed the chance for family dinners at Red Lobster. In the past year he followed online the D.C Eagles from eggs in the nest, hatching, hatchlings, on to adolescent eaglets. He was preceded in death by his wife Gladys in 2008, and his brother Wayne Brower in 2016.

He is survived by his children: Doug Brower of Hamilton, Lori Brower of Hamilton, Lonna and Allan Blaske of Grand Ledge; grandchildren: Claire and Lauren Blaske, sister Irene "Bunny" Slotman, in-laws: Belva Brower, Jay and Judy Klingenberg, Laverne and Doris Klingenberg, Mary and Ken DeGraaf, Ruth Vander Ark; Aunt Sara Steenwyk.
